The Moses Alexander House is located at 304 W. State Street on the corner of 3rd and State street. This beautiful Queen Anne/Victorian style home sits on three lots located approximately three blocks from the Idaho State Capital Building. It was the family home of Moses Alexander, former mayor of Boise and governor of Idaho and was completed in 1897 for a cost of only $3,200. Recently in 2001, the Moses Alexander House underwent restoration to help preserve and develop its historical significance. The state of Idaho has owned the building since 1977, when Alexander?s relative, Nathan M. Alexander sold it, just five years after it was placed on the national register of historical places. Its eccentric use of bay windows, porches, balconies, steep and irregular roofs and turrets all contribute to its Queen Anne/Victorian style. The house is now used for limited office space and educational displays, as well as serving as a place where the governor can entertain, seeing as Idaho has no Governor residence.
