Completed in April of 2007, the Banner Bank building is located on 10th and Bannock and is one of the premier new buildings in downtown Boise. Although it looks modern in many ways, it has classic Art Deco style. This can be seen in the entryway and the front lobby, and in the bundle of wheat motif placed around the building. The vertical aspects of the building are meant to catch attention. The length of the straight lines adds height to the building and easily classifies it as art deco. The Christensen Company needed as much floor space as possible, so the building was not allowed to be tiered. Instead, it had to go straight up so that all floors would have equal square footage. To compensate and give the building the same type of lines, the window pattern was added. This window pattern adds to the look and provides those on the upper floors with a better view of the surrounding area. A major achievement of this building is that it has been recognized with a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum rating. It is among only a handful of office buildings in the world to receive this, the highest LEED rating available. Banner Bank is an amazing art deco building that is both efficient and environmentally friendly.
