Located in one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in America and more than nineteen thousand five hundred students, Boise State University is the largest institution of higher learning in the State of Idaho. Boise State is an institution dedicated to many aspects that comprise the University today. Diverse cultural and sporting events are a large part of what makes Boise State not only an excellent place to receive a degree, but also an amazing place to visit and enjoy these many events. "More than one million people visit Boise State annually for cultural entertainment and athletic events, including Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning speakers, Bronco football, Martin Luther Jr. Human Rights Celebration, Gene Harris Jazz Festival, Distinguished Lecture Series and other events," said Frank Zang, Director of Communications at BSU. Boise State also prides itself upon its strong and lengthy history. From its transformation from a small junior college founded by the Episcopal Church in 1932, to the growing research University of today. "Boise State celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2007-08 and has grown from a small, church-sponsored college in a downtown schoolhouse to the largest institution of higher education in Idaho. The Administration Building, built in 1940, is the heart of the campus in the Quad," said Zang. While Boise State prides itself upon its rich history, it is also dedicated to the future. Boise State is currently in the process of a large transformation on campus. An official document registered by the University stated, "The expansion and renovation of the Student Union is scheduled for completion in early 2009 while Bronco Stadium's new skyboxes and press box should be ready when the 2008 football season starts next fall." Boise State University has distinguished itself as a premier school of higher learning in Idaho. Its vast majority of events and rich tradition have established this mark as the University looks to further is press towards excellence.
