The Basque Block has been a meeting place for the thousands of Basques in Boise. It's a place where people get together and enjoy their culture with traditional games and foods; it is a great place to spend some time. The Block consists of The Basque Center and Museum, Bar Gernika, The Cyrus Jacobs Boarding House, The Fronton Building, and the Leku Ona restaurant and hotel. They hold many festivals there such as Jaialdi.
Bar GernikaThe Bar Gernika is a Basque eatery and pub established in 1991. It was built of brick and has many decorations displaying the Basque heritage. It is a focal gathering point for the community. The building where it is located was saved by the Basque Museum from demolition. It was supposed to be converted into a parking lot. Dan Ansotegui did all the work to make it into the restaurant that it is today. They serve a wide variety of Basque food to help others experience their culture. The Leku Ona (or good place) is located at the other end of the Basque Block. It also has a bar and a dining room area where fine foods are served. The bar is known for being a local gathering spot for soccer fans.
